RHA Out and About

2010 has already been a tremendously busy year for the members of the RHA. With some of the organization’s biggest events coming early in the roller hockey season the group has already been seen throughout the country. With NARCh and Torhs showcasing their winter nationals from coast to coast and USA Clinics teaching not only players, but rink operators and coaches about our great sport, the RHA is being represented well by all of its partners.

USA Clinics has done an unbelievable job promoting not only the RHA but the sport throughout the country. Peter Dale has set time aside during every one of his clinic weekends to offer RHA Coaches Seminars and sit with rink operators to discuss ways to better their programs and build grassroots. The RHA has done more than 12 coaches seminars and reached out over 75 coaches throughout the country that are excited about the sport and looking to learn more from an RHA group that has been around for a very long time. Peter Dale has played at every level of roller hockey, including the first World Championships in Chicago, IL, and has been a mainstay in the sport for well over 15 years. "He has done amazing things both on the floor and off and is now giving back to all aspects of our sport," says RHA representative, CJ Yoder.

NARCh and Torhs are the two biggest tournament series in the country and were well represented at their winter nationals. NARCh spread its wings from the east coast to the west coast as the eastern sea board found their way to Long Island, NY while the West Winter Nationals was held at beautiful Silver Creek Sportsplex in San Jose, CA. "Both tournaments were just another NARCh success that the roller hockey world has come to expect from the company. I had the opportunity to speak with several rink operators, coaches, and players that were again amazed at the professionalism of the tournament," said Yoder.

Torhs was not to be outdone as their big winter tournaments spread from North Carolina to Detroit, MI and were again well represented at both locations. "Everyone in the sport respects the management of Torhs and it’s amazing to see the dedication these teams and players have for the tournament series. We are very lucky to have Torhs as a part of the RHA."

Another partner in the RHA, PIHA, finished its 2009-2010 season with a bang as the Eastern champions faced off against the Western champions in a battle to see who was crowned 2010 Founders Cup Champion. The weekend was the best final ever in the leagues 9 year existence as all the players and teams walked away saying only great things about how they were treated by the league and mentioned the excitement for 2011. League meetings were held with the RHA being talked about with ideas of how the league and the organization can help give back to the grassroots of our sport.

The RHA is looking forward to Winter Wars in Philadelphia in a few weeks and then a representation in the Rockies as State Wars heads west for its West Winter Wars. Just two more unbelievable events that the RHA is excited about being a part of.
